LaShonda Smith is an educator, advocate, entrepreneur, and community leader whose career has centered on helping people recognize their abilities and reach their full potential. A graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a degree in Political Science, she began her career in political campaigns and public service before discovering a deeper calling through her work with children with disabilities.
As an entrepreneur, LaShonda founded businesses focused on supporting children with disabilities and their families. Through My Ability Adventure, she teaches blind and low-vision individuals practical independent-living skills while also working with parents and children to develop strategies that support greater independence at home and in everyday life. Her experience also includes teaching third grade and working directly with families to bridge the gap between educational goals and everyday life.
After experiencing vision loss, LaShonda attended World Services for the Blind in Little Rock, Arkansas, where she developed the skills necessary to live independently. She later returned as a Techniques of Daily Living Instructor, teaching other blind and visually impaired individuals essential skills for managing daily life. Her own journey through vision loss, education, entrepreneurship, and service continues to shape the way she encourages others to recognize that their circumstances do not define their abilities.
